Hi Everyone!

It's that time of year again when the clock seems to be running fast and we seem to be going slower. The days fly past and we wonder how we are going to get everything done before Xmas. With so much to do these days every minute counts. I know at the moment I can't afford to waste a second. Jewellery making is manic and I haven't done any Xmas shopping yet!!!

Well my lovelies don't fret. You all know I'm a member of Stonehouse Gallery and if you haven't been to Stonehouse ,an artist run gallery in picturest Warrandyte, as yet then you're in for a treat. Golden Girl Painting

Ahhh finally, a finished piece, the first in 20 years!!

This is a multi media artwork. I first made an interesting background with sheet music then made some transfers and added them. Next I painted over this with blue, added more transfers and other images. With my background done I started painting the face with acrylics. A few more transfers in the foreground and finally a finished piece.

Well, I say finished but I always see something else I can touch up or add...but I'm not going to. I'm going to try and stop fiddling endlessly.

I'm pretty happy with my first effort and can't wait to start my next one.

More Art

Spring has arrived and my fingers are working overtime making jewellery. However,

last month I found a great art website and it inspired me to get my paints out and start some artwork. I don't have a special plan, I'm just playing around with different mediums and techniques.

I must be mad!!!!! this is the worst time of year to start anything new but I'm having sooooo much fun I just can't put it away.

The pictures I'm posting are artworks in progress..not finished works... but interesting to see the progression.

Play Time!

I've been thinking about how much time I spend working, 12 hours some days. You know what I mean, by the time I finish designing, making ,ordering, posting, buying, listing, labelling, delivering let alone cleaning house , cooking, washing ...need I go on!

Now don't get me wrong ,I love what I do and am very grateful that I'm able to work from home but there comes a time when one day just rolls into another and you realize that you haven't seen anyone for days let alone had any fun....I mean real fun that has nothing to do with earning money or having any purpose except just PLAYING. I gave this idea some thought, how much time do I spend playing, the answer.......a big fat zero!

Yes it' s official, I'm a workaholic, how boring!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's time to change and have some fun.

I decided to buy some paints and play, just play. Splash and rub, stick, colour, cut and paint and see what happens. Now I haven't had any art training and came to the conclusion i will have to do some research on colour and how to use some mediums properly but I have had FUN ,yes real fun just playing.
These two pictures aren't finished but you get the idea of what I've been doing.

So if your busy and have forgotten, like me, that there is more to life, then get out there and explore and enjoy.

Winter Jewellery

Ok, here's the thing, I'm not a winter jewellery kind of person. I tend to make things you can wear most of the year and considering I try to make my work "timeless" it's a real challenge for me to make something for a certain season. I know what your thinking , that for business reasons that's exactly what I should be doing. Yes well, that's all well and good for the mass market but that's not what I'm about really is it. How can I possibly put away those beautiful bright turquoise or coral beads that are just screaming at me to play with them and work with something less alluring?
Also, I'm always so busy and running behind that by the time I get to making that winter jewellery it's spring already!
So what am I trying to say here you ask.
Well this week I decided I would make an effort and put together some pieces that would suit either winter or summer. It also gave me the chance to use some lovely grey agates and black onyx that I've been saving for a rainy day.
So here is the result of a weeks hard work.
If you love what you see and are interested in buying you can check my website for Galleries that stock my work.

Ch31 Interview

My interview was aired on Monday 14th July on Eastern Newsbeat and will be repeated on Thursday 17th at 11.30am EST.
It was daunting and funny to see myself "live" LOL !!!! but it was very positive and I think the message I wanted to pass on to others did come through.
I also showed some of my ceramics from my previous life which did make me a bit nostalgic....but no.......I'm not getting side tracked and going offto play with clay......even though I'd love to.
Back to my studio now as I'm busy designing some new winter pieces.

Interview with Ch31 Melbourne

Ok, here is some exciting news. I recieved a phone call last week from Jean Barns from Ch31, the Melbourne community TV station, who wanted to do an interview with me about my jewellery!!!!!!!
Jean had seen my work several times during her visits to Wyreena Gallery in Croydon and lucky for me loved what she had seen.
Well today was the day and I have to admit, even though I tried my best, I did get dry mouth disease several times. Luckily this happened mostly between takes and I was able to make some sense when actually filming.
Jean was an absolute sweetie and did her best to make me feel relaxed and comfortable. Thanks Jean!!
I took along some of my pottery work from "the old days" so viewers could see where my artist journey had started.
If it does get to air , it will be such a hoot, hope my ramblings made sense!

I'll post when I know exact dates. I've been told it will be on twice, Monday 9am on Newsbeat and Thursday 11.30am on Newsbeat.

Also Check out my website as I've put in dates for Term 3 2010 Jewellery Classes

New Work

It was a beautiful Autumn day with magnificent blue skies today and it motivated me to do something with the stockpile of blue Turquoise I had been saving to make something special. I have a habit of buying beads and hording them away.

I wanted to make a necklace that could be worn short or long..tricky !!!

I started playing around with an asymetrical design using different sizes of turquoise and including lots of lovely silver spacers, beads and caps.

Finishing with a great feature toggle with a hand made silver disc ( by me) that can be added when the necklace is worn long. Georgeous!!

I made it nice and long so anyone...no matter how tall....could get the feeling of extraordinary length.

I've posted more of my new work on my website follow the link to check it out
