Blue Lagoon

This georgeous necklace with lush AAA freshwater pearls, sterling silver textured discs and turquoise blue organic stone beads reminded me of the movie Blue Lagoon...remember it? Brings back those memories of days at the beach, sunshine and that wonderful blue green sea with white frothy waves breaking on the sand. Summer is here!!!!!

New Work!
"Imperial Princess Necklace"
I have been having the best time using some of the new beads I bought recently. I had a vision of what I could do when I saw these and couldn't wait to get into my studio and start creating. The Imperial Jasper is amazing! Such a bright and vibrant orange red colour. I added some Amethyst, Hemetite and then oxidised silver chain until it was really black.I love the combination.
This necklace is available through Birds Gallery in Kew, Victoria , Australia.

Collage Fantasy

I've been having the best time playing with mixed media collage this week. I had to make a piece of artwork for the 12 days of Christmas display at Stonehouse Gallery, www.stonehousegallery.com
I thought earrings wouldn't do as they would just get lost so I ventured into my box of tricks and came up with these mixed media collage paintings. I chose the second day of Christmas, being Two Doves ( I'm lazy and didn't want to make 10 Lords or 6 geese!!LOL) and seeing I have Walter as reference I had plenty of inspiration. For those of you who don't know about Walter, he is a lost domestic pigeon that hangs around my house and I feed him.He has been around for years and has bred with the native doves and there are young Walter look alike popping up everywhere!! Anyhoo, we called him Walter after the actor Walter Pidgeon ( 50's- 60's).

So, the two doves are a play on Walter and his Royal attitude and his many loves.

Oh sunny days, isn't spring wonderful!

I'm sitting here in my NEW office/workspace (lucky me) feeling incredibly guilty as I've hardly made any jewellery this month. Just as well I've been building up my stocks over winter!

So, what have I been doing instead of slaving away in my studio you ask,  buying furniture for my new office space and spending sleepless nights putting the jolly stuff together. I'm an IKEA expert now!
It's also spring and the gardening and nesting fever has struck. The veggie patch has been dug and manured and the first green bean seedlings have been planted, the fruit trees are blossoming and many flower seeds have been planted. Herman( sweet dog) has been kind to help by digging newly planted flower seedlings up for me. If he wasn't so gorgeous..grrrrrrr

I did manage to design a few new pairs of earrings, some asymmetrical pairs and I'm really happy with them.

Art wise I have been playing at night whilst curled up on the couch with my water soluble crayons ( a birthday present I hadn't got around to using) and layering and scratching back to see the effects. This is so addictive and great fun. I have to force myself to stop and go to bed. I've also included a couple of pics of the paintings I did.

Life is great!

Ok, so I spent all day taking photo's and writing descriptions about these cutest of cute Bad Kitty Art bookmarks to list them in my Etsy shop.
Wow it takes AGES to do everything and I did pick a rainy day to take photo's so.... no nice natural light pics which means I had to ajust each photo too!
Check out my Etsy shop and see how cute these guys are.
Anyhoo...all done and dusted now and  the next step is to make my cards.

Hope you like them and when I have perfected them I'll put them on ETSY along with card versions for sale so keep tuned in!

Just for Interest

Seeing I'm on the "Time" travelling theme I just thought I would put these pictures of my ceramic work in today. These were done a few years ago and I found the pictures while searching for things to put onto my cigar boxes.

It's interesting how we forget what we have done before and the road we have travelled.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time there was a girl with dreams. Her first day at school, her first love ,a wondrous adventure overseas,  children. What happened to this girl who became a woman.

Ah yes...Time! So if your wondering what I've been doing with my time.....yippeeee... playing and drawing and making art apart from my jewellery. I LOVE collage, altered art, mixed media and assemblage and the past few months I had this idea of getting some old cigar boxes and doing something???with them.
I jumped onto eBay and bought 3 lovely boxes so I could make a series. So here is the first result.

In this series of Cigar Box, Altered Art, Mixed Media assemblage I am exploring the journey of time and family.
The first box is of my mother and her first day of school with all the expectations of life she had.
You can see I have given her a crown to symbolize her matriarch stance in the family. The butterfly symbolizes change and the clock for Time passing.

I'm making three boxes and they will be on exhibition at Stonehouse Gallery, 103 Yarra Street, Warrandyte Victoria, Australia for the month of August 2011

New Work

Winter brings with it an array of beautiful colours. Warm oranges and reds, citrus yellows and greens fluttering down to the ground from Autumn trees shedding their summer finery.

It's a time of change, reflection and hot chocolate in front of the fire with a good book.

I've been watching the changes and have reflected this winter warmth in my new jewellery....enjoy!
