A Bangle a Day

You know, I had no idea how much I loved the jingling of a bunch of bangles when worn together. I guess it's my bohemian side coming out, the secret side of you that you keep hidden away while you pretend you're far too sophisticated, or too old for that kind of thing.
Well girls, life is short and I'm going to make the best of it! Jingle jingle here I come. There is something so uplifting and fun about that sound.

Here is my latest creation to celebrate.......well .......ANYTHING!!!!
( while still being just a bit sophisticated).

Colors Of Spring

Stonehouse Gallery has a new spring exhibition up and running. There are some fantastic new wall plaques and ceramic flowers by Robyn Carter. Jenny Johns has wonderful organic ceramic vases and Michelle Mischkulnigs outstanding textile artworks are too beautiful to describe in simple words. The exhibition runs for the month of September so don't miss out.

What to make when you get bored with necklaces, earrings and bracelets? ....RINGS!
I spent today having heaps of fun playing around making rings. As I'm not a fully trained jeweler, it's always a challenge to work out how to make something. All sorts of dynamics come in to play, such as, how to hold one part of something while needing two hands to work on another part. Lucky I have 3 hands! Ummm Noooo, just kidding, but I do have a cool little tool that does hang on to something for me that solves the problem to a degree.
I could make life a lot easier by spending time on YouTube and watch umpteen videos on the subject, but I'm a bit stubborn, or lazy, I'm not sure which. I tend to just jump in and enjoy the experience of trying to work it out myself (I tend not to read instruction manuals either). This means that my solutions are generally a bit unorthodox or quirky, but definitely a bit more organic than highly refined pieces. A look I definitely prefer.

Stonehouse Gallery in celebrating 40 years this month. Things went off with a bang on Sunday 3rd June with a Birthday party and Open Day at the gallery, 103 Yarra Street Warrandyte.
Everyone attending was greeted at the door with a gift of a small handmade pot which was then filled with delicious warm mulled wine.
The Gallery has been operating since 1972 and is managed by a group of dedicated women artists passionate about promoting and supporting local and Australian art and quality crafts.
The current exhibition, running through June, is from current members and a retrospective of past members.
The Gallery is open 7days a week  10am-5pm

Red Coral Bliss

Finally, I'm getting some work done. Here is my first piece after getting back from holidays. I handmade the chain and wired together some great coral I had forgot I still had. The best thing about being on holidays is coming home, and seeing with fresh eyes, all the amazing things you took for granted before. I love my home and studio.

A New Year

2012 a wonderful new year to explore, create and enjoy.
This year I am taking time off, a whole month! This is my first holiday in 10 years other than grabbing a few precious days here or there and I'm certainly going to make the most of it.
Firstly we have a wedding to enjoy, my youngest is tying the knot and we couldn't be happier. Love is in the air and with that so are many celebrations and social events to attend.
I will be back in my studio in April refreshed after my holiday with lots of new and exciting jewellery ideas to work on.
A big thank you to all who have been so supportive in 2011( you know who you are) and to my faithful customers who continue to buy my jewellery and inspire me to continue making.
