Happy Holidays!

Summer holidays are just the best. Sunny days, trips to the beach, BBQ's and day trips to the country. I just love this time of year!
As the New Year approaches I'm giving thought to what new jewellery creations I can make in 2015.
Shall I make more long necklaces, incorporate more stones in settings? So much to think about, so many ideas to choose from.
I think I need at least 3 lifetimes to make all the things that fly through my silly brain.

Here are a few new things that I did manage to make over the Christmas period...sorry...sold already.... but you can order here if you love it.

Have a very Happy, Healthy New Year!
Laugh Lots and Lots Lots more. That's what living is all about! Find the positive in every day.

Jewellery Shop Open

It's been freezing in my studio but I've managed to get tin there and be consistent in my work schedule. The dogs have been adding warmth to my area, just by laying by my feet, and a small electric bar heater my only other heating.  After a short break I have concentrated on and  reopened my Jewellery Shop, so pop in and have a look!  Lots of new Sterling Silver, Freshwater Pearls and Amethyst Earrings, Bracelets and Necklaces.
Hope you are having a snugly winter with lots of hot chocolate or coffee to keep the chill away. If you are in the warmer northern hemisphere....well, lucky you! enjoy! Not saying I'm jealous, as I do enjoy Winter, but I will be looking forward to Spring.

Shopping Time!

My Jewellery Shop is open again! Holidays are over.......well for now that is.
I've spent the day adding pieces and changing some things on the site. I hope it's easier to navigate now. There is still a lot to do. Lots of changes and better photos to take to replace ones that don't do justice to the piece. Customers are always telling me the jewellery is even more beautiful than the pictures.
Go visit!

Autumn in Stonehouse

As the summer days start to get a little cooler and those late night BBQ’s have to move indoors or you have to light a lantern or candle as it gets a little darker, we start to think about getting ready for autumn.

The thought of shutting off that outdoor space again is always a sad thought, however the thought of cosy fires and gorgeous textured throws to cuddle up on the sofa with, does bring its own warmth (literally)!
So what can you expect to find this Autumn season?

Natural and raw materials are keeping it simple , stripped- back
wood, polished gem stones and earthy ceramics are making a real feature of the natural this Autumn. Think branches in vases, natural wooden boards for crusty bread and ceramic bowls for warming soups.

And for the special things, add a little gold – a hint of golden thread in a scarf or a picture with a beautiful gilded frame.
Stonehouse has a lot to offer and is forever changing. New treasures arrive weekly from the hands of enthusiastic artists eager to share their craft with you.
Visit Stonehouse and enjoy the offerings.

Stonehouse Gallery 5th Annual Tertiary Ceramics Award

It's that time of year again and fledgling ceramicists are fluffing their feathers and getting ready to participate in the Stonehouse Annual Ceramic Awards. This is definitely worth a look and a wonderful opportunity to support these emerging artists. Past exhibitions have certainly produced some cutting edge work.
The gallery itself has plenty of quality art and craft to view and purchase. Make a day of it, the walk along the river is beautiful. There is a great playground for the kids and your four footed friends are welcome too! Make sure you take your swimmers along, as there is even a beach where you can cool off in the hot weather.

5th Annual

The Stonehouse Gallery has been part of the ceramic scene in Victoria for 41
years. It is located in the well known picturesque artists village of Warrandyte along the Yarra river, approximately 25 minutes from Melbourne Victoria.

Warrandyte is recognized as one of the original locations of studio ceramics in Australia.

The gallery has a history of supporting emerging artists, in fact many of the Stonehouse members are graduates of local tertiary institutions. With this in mind 6 years ago Stonehouse invited the Victorian institutions offering ceramic courses to nominate 2 under graduate students to participate in the annual award. The criteria being that the students were producing a high standard of work and would benefit from the experience of exhibiting in a gallery.

The award has been extended by the generosity of our ceramic suppliers, Clay Works, Potters Equipment and Walker Ceramics, who have given 3 extra awards. Anna Maas, director of the Skepsi gallery and a great promoter of Australian ceramics, has again agreed to give her time and expertise to adjudicate the exhibition and nominate the Stonehouse gallery award plus the three sponsors awards.
