Stonehouse Gallery 5th Annual Tertiary Ceramics Award

It's that time of year again and fledgling ceramicists are fluffing their feathers and getting ready to participate in the Stonehouse Annual Ceramic Awards. This is definitely worth a look and a wonderful opportunity to support these emerging artists. Past exhibitions have certainly produced some cutting edge work.
The gallery itself has plenty of quality art and craft to view and purchase. Make a day of it, the walk along the river is beautiful. There is a great playground for the kids and your four footed friends are welcome too! Make sure you take your swimmers along, as there is even a beach where you can cool off in the hot weather.

5th Annual

The Stonehouse Gallery has been part of the ceramic scene in Victoria for 41
years. It is located in the well known picturesque artists village of Warrandyte along the Yarra river, approximately 25 minutes from Melbourne Victoria.

Warrandyte is recognized as one of the original locations of studio ceramics in Australia.

The gallery has a history of supporting emerging artists, in fact many of the Stonehouse members are graduates of local tertiary institutions. With this in mind 6 years ago Stonehouse invited the Victorian institutions offering ceramic courses to nominate 2 under graduate students to participate in the annual award. The criteria being that the students were producing a high standard of work and would benefit from the experience of exhibiting in a gallery.

The award has been extended by the generosity of our ceramic suppliers, Clay Works, Potters Equipment and Walker Ceramics, who have given 3 extra awards. Anna Maas, director of the Skepsi gallery and a great promoter of Australian ceramics, has again agreed to give her time and expertise to adjudicate the exhibition and nominate the Stonehouse gallery award plus the three sponsors awards.
